West Carclaze Garden Village

West Carclaze is a vibrant new community designed around a thriving village centre and with great local facilities. West Carclaze offers the opportunity for sustainable living in beautifully designed, energy efficient homes within a stunning and uniquely Cornish location with on-site renewables off-setting energy use.

The village centre will be the main focus of new and improved public transport facilities, including buses, electric bike hire and car clubs, offering a variety of sustainable transport options for travelling to and from The Garden Village.

Formed in 2010 Eco-Bos is a joint venture between Orascom Development and Imerys to develop a series of sustainable communities in Cornwall.

The venture was originally conceived as part of the UK government’s Eco-Town competition to promote the growth of sustainable communities.

The Eco-Bos vision to rehabilitate land that was formerly used for mineral extraction and processing champions the aspirations for a new breed of town with sustainable living at its heart.

With a pipeline of around 5,000 properties in Cornwall, Eco-Bos is committed to the long-term, creating beautiful homes in thriving communities, enhancing the stunning natural landscape and celebrating the Cornish past while helping to create a new greener future.

At the heart of the new community, the village centre will be a bustling hub of activity with a community centre, doctors’, dentists, vets, local shops and a 420-place primary school and nursery run by ACE Academy.

A range of beautifully designed homes to suit everyone from first-time buyers to retirees. The homes will be affordable, sustainable and enhance their surroundings while being great places to live. Energy efficient homes and the essential infrastructure for the future ensures we are creating an innovative and truly sustainable community. Our 2 solar farms also produce enough electricity to off-set the consumption of 1,875 homes.

66% of the site or approximately 350 acres will be green open space. Wild wetlands and pastures to wander through, a wide range of formal parks and informal open spaces and green corridors connecting the residential areas.

Residents will never be lost for activities to engage in with a host of options to provide inspiration.  Experience centre, allotments, edible planting, walkways, cycleways, bridle paths, watersports, children’s play areas and outdoor exercise areas all promote good health and enable active lifestyles.

West Carclaze has the potential to make a significant contribution to Mid Cornwall and its economy, bringing approximately 1,000 employment opportunities and £1 billion to the local economy over the next 20 years.
